About the Author
Jessica Rios is a trauma-informed psychotherapist and grief specialist who advocates for honest conversations about living through loss.

Her work is shaped not only by her clinical training but by her own lived experiences with grief, beginning in her early years and deepening through the relationships and stories she has held both personally and professionally.

She created Grief, Hope, Baseball: Essays as a way to put language to the parts of grief that often go unspoken, such as shame and moments that feel confusing, heavy, and sometimes invisible. By sharing these essays, Jess helps others recognize that their feelings are valid and shared by many. Readers often find comfort in knowing they are not alone and gain practical perspectives and language to better understand and process their own grief.

Raised in New York, Jess found an unexpected anchor in baseball. What began as a childhood escape became a rhythm, a ritual, and a reminder that, like in the game, after every loss, there’s always another at bat and another season to try again.
Today, she supports people through grief, trauma, and transitions by offering individual therapy, group sessions, and workshops. Jess continues to write, teach, and create spaces where others feel seen and understood.
Grief, Hope, Baseball: Essays is now available.
